September 17, 2018 -On September 17th, the Professional Development Committee of the NYDEC, along with the Queens Chamber of Commerce, produced a half-day program on exporting to various countries in Asia. The program featured expert speakers on various international trade topics. In particular, professionals from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The program was coordinated by Tom Cook.
February 15, 2017 - The New York DEC in conjunction with the Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL) and the U.S. Department of Commerce produced an event called the “NYC International Business Resource Review” for the benefit of the Foreign Trade Commissioners Association (FTCA) of New York. The Library welcomed around 50 members of the FTCA who were eager to hear about the resources available in New York City regarding international trade. NYDEC member Peter Bengston officiated. Nancy Ploeger arranged the event.
February 15, 2017 – The New York DEC was a supporting organization for an event held at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) entitled “New York Fashion and Beauty Entrepreneurs’ International Business”. The event featured a keynote address from Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. This was followed by a panel discussion that included 4 entrepreneurs form NYC who explained to an audience of about 200 people how they were able to start their international businesses against high odds.
